Meet the Game Master

Who am I?

Hello there... I'm Fable. I run paid, immersive D&D games that transport you into growing, engaging and spellbinding stories, set in lovingly crafted worlds and hosted in cozy venues.

I've been GMing for 15 years and run everything from mystery-woven campaigns to punchy one shots and even the occasional night of tense social deduction!

Why D&D?

When I was just 8 years old, my Dad introduced me to D&D. Already obsessed with LoTR, writing stories and funny voices... I was hooked. D&D would follow me wherever I went.

At my grandparents dinner table, in an empty classroom, my friend's big red shed, in the park, at University halls, and my own first apartment.

It took nearly 20 years and a visit to the dark forests of a commercial 9-5 job for me to realise... D&D had given me purpose and joy. I could return the favour by sharing it with others.

My Game Style

There are three parts to every great D&D game. Roleplay, Exploration and Combat. I think of them as Podcast, Book and Film.

  • Roleplay: As with any good Podcast, there are topics and beats to hit, but the gems of humour, intensity and vulnerability come from the present moment and improvisation. Theatre of The Mind plays a big role here. My narration and voicing of NPCs sets the scene, acting as 'host', and your response to the situation as the 'guest' driving the conversation forward.

  • Exploration: Within the pages of your favourite work of fiction are secrets, patterns and interconnections of a world unknown. Slowly, yet suddenly, chapter by chapter things start to make sense. In that same way, each session brings colour and texture to your imagination. I strongly encourage my players to explore wherever, whenever.

  • Combat: We all know a good action film when we see one. With a simple CC injection, we can bring that high impact energy to the D&D table.

  1. Cinematic: Camera POV as a sword swings through smoke and carves down a goblin. Pan upwards to see hundreds more goblins storming the gates.
  2. Cool: The Rule of Cool is well known and for good reason. If a player has an idea, the table likes it but the rules say no... we ignore the rules. Simple.
